14 - This Is What Christians Believe

14-behaza-yo2min

Author: Rev. Nasrallah Zakaria
Publisher: Vision For Future (year)

The elimination of the history of the Coptic Orthodox era from history books in Egypt, and the forgetting of the seven centuries when the Library of Alexandria represented the pinnacle of Christian thought in the world, has led to complete ignorance, and a lack of knowledge concerning everything related to Christianity. In addition, in our own day, media have continued to deliberately distort the Christian faith through unfair and subjective criticism. This was especially true after former President Sadat attempted to Islamize the country while suppressing the leftist and Nasserite movements, resulting in a profound impact on the church, and alienating it from its Muslim-majority neighbors and societal context.

Therefore, it is necessary for theologians to simplify and describe the basics of the Christian faith, in a language that can be understood by the man on the street, and by ordinary people. In this book, the writer presents a contemporary Eastern point of view on a variety of controversial issues which tend to get raised by critics of Middle-Eastern Christianity.

11 - Jesus' Crucifixion, Burial, and Resurrection: Three Biblical Truths

saleeb

Author: Dr. Menes Abdel Nour
Publisher: Vision For Future (2012)

This brief study focuses on the events of Christ's death that took place at the end of Holy Week. In the introduction, the author expresses his desire that the reader will experience the words of the apostle Paul, "But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world" (Galatians 6:14).

Christ's crucifixion, burial and resurrection, which took place in Palestine more than twenty centuries ago, are three historical facts. However, a large number of people deny that these facts ever occurred. Strangely they reason that they want to honor and respect Christ: they refuse to accept his humiliation and crucifixion. They said it is unacceptable to think that the whips of wicked executioners tore the body of Christ, who healed the leper, opened the eyes of the blind, fed the hungry, and raised the dead. How can they accept that all of these insults happen to the Christ who did such great miracles? Why did he not do a miracle to stop those who tortured and crucified him, even though he was able to destroy them with the breath of his mouth! How can God allow humans to commit all this evil against a great prophet?

9 - The Cross And Its Cosmic Purpose

9-mafaheem

Author: Rev. Philip Maazuz
Publisher: Vision For Future (2011)

The truth of Jesus' Cross is the greatest truth. More accurately, it is the purpose of the Scriptures, the Center of Biblical faith, and the axis of the wheel of human history. The entire universe was founded for it. There is nothing of more precious meaning in man's existence than that God suffered for man's sin, redeeming him and fashioning a pure and holy church that could dwell with Him in eternal glory.

Since the story of the cross is the focus of our Christian faith, and the source of our eternal salvation, we should put great effort into explaining it in all its richness. This is what Rev. Philip Maazuz attempts to do in his book, "The Cross and its universal purpose." The medium sized book, of nearly 200 pages, is divided into the four parts described below.

8 - Christ In The Torah Part II - From Isaiah To Revelation

jesus-in-bible-02

Author: Samir Hosni Morgan
Publisher: Vision For Future (2011)

That Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world is the central axis of the Holy Bible. We cannot understand the Bible without focusing on this axis. All the books of the Bible talk about Christ. We cannot explain any book in an inconsistent manner with the character of Christ and his work. When we think in the Bible, implications and different incidents, we find that the Bible talks about Christ who will come to save the world from sin. We find that the Old Testament paved the way for his coming through prophecies, examples and multiple symbols. On this basis, the author addresses these prophecies and symbols, and their fulfillment in the New Testament.

The writer reveals the following about Christ in the prophetic books:

Christ in Isaiah: Christ is the Son and the suffering servant (Isaiah 17:14, 53).
- He was rejected from his people: the prophecy (Isaiah 1:4), the fulfillment of the prophecy (Acts 15: 7- 25).
- The work of Christ on the cross: the prophecy is stated in (Isaiah 1:18), the completion the prophecy mentioned in (I Corinthians 15:1- 3).

jesus-in-bible-01

Author: Samir Hosni Morgan
Publisher: Vision For Future (2011)

That Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world is the central axis of the Holy Bible. We cannot understand the Bible without focusing on this axis. All the books of the Bible talk about Christ. We cannot explain any of its books in a manner inconsistent with the character of Christ and his work. When we consider the message and story of the Bible, and the implications and different incidents therein, we find that the whole Bible talks about a Christ who will come to save the world from sin.

The Old Testament paves the way for his coming through prophecies, examples and multiple symbols. From the Garden of Eden, when he makes a promise to Eve (Genesis 3), God begins to declare His plan of salvation for mankind, telling her that her offspring will beget the Savior who will crush the head of the serpent (Satan), while Satan will himself bruise the heel of the Savior.

6 - The Power to Change

Cover-con06

Author: Dr. Nagy Maurice
Publisher: Vision For Future (year)

If sociologists talk about the power of social change, the Word of God talks about the power of human change. The more genuine the change among the individuals of a community, the more their entire community truly changes in the same direction.

This book is a modest attempt to make clearer the power of change in humanity which was corrupted because of sin. Man is invited to live and to reflect the image and dignity of God. The writer invites the reader in this book to walk with him the journey of change to become the complete man.

5 - God Become Flesh

5-mafaheem

Author: Rev. Menes Abdel Nour
Publisher: Vision For Future (2010)

In this medium sized book, of 145 pages, divided into three parts, Rev. Menes Abdel Nour explains the importance and necessity of Christ's incarnation. It is the fifth book in the Biblical Concepts series.
The assertion is that God manifested himself in the flesh as a fulfillment of his own eternal plan for Man's salvation. Rev. Menes presents this theological issue in an easy and simple way in order to answer all the questions that might possibly cross a reader's mind.

Part One

To begin the book, the author touches on the divine aspects of Christ's person. In the first two chapters he talks about the apostles' testimony and highlights Christ's testimony about himself as well. Christ attested to his divinity, not only by having continual companionship with God, but also by proving that He possessed a divine nature. Several parts of the bible cited His attestation of such, as John 12:44 does: "Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me".

4 - The Second Coming Of Christ And The Last Judgment

jesus-coming

Author: Rev. Nasrallah Zakaria
Publisher: Vision For Future (2010)

In "the Second Coming of Christ and the Last Judgment," the writer Rev. Nasrallah explains how this topic has raised much controversy and debate. All the Eastern religions confirm and agree upon this singular fixed inevitable truth: the return of Christ again to judge people at the end of the world.

The author deals with many aspects of this topic which can help us to better understand certain biblical facts and concepts. The book consists of thirteen chapters.

Chapter 1 discusses the doctrine of the second coming of Christ according to the Christian prospective. The author deals with the doctrine as it is revealed in the New Testament. The author sees that the New Testament does not refer to the coming of Christ every time it mentions the second coming of Christ, but it does present several images of the second coming of Christ. The New Testament uses four words that explain the significant kinds of this coming. These words are: "the Lord's coming," "his revelation," "his appearance," and "the Master is coming".

3 - A Christian View of Death

3-mafaheem

Author: Nasrallah Zakaria and Zaki George
Publisher: Vision For Future (2010)

Death is the only fact which all human beings are agreed on, irrespective of their color, ethnicity, belief, race or religion. While they may not agree or find a practical, social or even religious consensus about many phenomena or facts, they do agree on the reality and the inevitability of death. Therefore, death is indisputable.

Death carries a contradiction in its nature, insofar as it combines a "certainty" with an "uncertainty." Humans are certain that they will inevitably die. However, they never know when they will die.

However, the question we are most interested in is, "does the inevitability of death mean complete destruction?" In answering this question, the authors begin to define death. Their approach is to discuss the teachings of the Old Testament about death and what is beyond.
